About Jonathan

Jonathan Jones, hailing from Carrollton, Georgia, has forged an impressive path from undrafted underdog to Super Bowl champion, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Born on September 20th, Jones discovered his passion for sports early in life, excelling in football and track & field at Carrollton High School. His dominance earned him multiple state titles, including the prestigious Georgia Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year award.
Transitioning to Auburn University, Jones showcased his skills as a four-year starting cornerback, garnering All-SEC honors and earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In 2016, he defied expectations by joining the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent, leaving an indelible mark in Super Bowl LIII with a standout performance, leading the team in tackles and contributing to their triumph.
Off the field, Jones founded the Jonathan Jones Next Step Foundation in 2019, a platform dedicated to empowering youth through education, professional development, and mentorship. Recognized for his outstanding community service, Jones received the Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2023 and became the first male ambassador for iPlay Like A Girl, supporting women and girls in STEM and sports.
Jones’s commitment to community service has also been recognized through the Auburn Chamber of Commerce’s Eagle Award for Community Contribution. His unwavering courage, sportsmanship and professionalism earned him the 2024 Ed Block Courage Award. In 2023, Jones was named a finalist for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He continues to solidify his position as a leader, both on and off the field. Jones’ journey embodies resilience, triumph, and generosity, showcasing the impact of unwavering courage and dedication.

Jonathan Jones, born in 1993 in Carrollton, Georgia, discovered his love for sports at the age of 4 and excelled in football and track & field in high school. He won three individual state titles and was named the Georgia Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year. Jones also led his football team to a state championship and maintained a 3.8 GPA while volunteering at local soup kitchens and youth track clubs.

The Next Step Foundation kicked off in 2019 with its inaugural football camp in Carrollton and continues to this day. During the four-hour window, both boys and girls are coached by former collegiate athletes as well as professional athletes on agility work, drills, and more. The foundation supports community involvement in Boston, home of the Patriots, as well as his hometown.
